There is good news for those who had been waiting to buy my popular book ‘Coorg: Land of Beauty and Valour’ which had gone out of print a few years ago. The book is being published through ‘print-on-demand’ technology which enables the printing of either a single book, or multiple copies.
The book has practical hints on where to go and what to see in Kodagu (Coorg) district of Karnataka in south India, which has emerged as a top holiday destination, especially for nature lovers.
The book also showcases the writings of some of the finest writers in Coorg on the unique culture and history of Coorg. While researchers Boverianda Chinnappa and Nanjamma Chinnappa have contributed articles on Kodava customs, writer C.P.Belliappa has written on Coorg history. Textile designer Chindamada Arati Monappa has contributed articles on Coorg lifestyle. The foreword for the book has been penned by writer Pattadamada Sundar Muthanna.
There is an exclusive chapter on the unique and colourful Kodava wedding with pictures. There is a write-up on the clothing and textile traditions of Coorg. The books also explains the concept of home-stays which has become very popular in Coorg. Visitors to Coorg can stay in the homes of the local people and get to know about the local customs and also taste the unique Kodagu cuisine. There is a chapter on what are the items the tourists can buy in the local shops.
The pictorial book has also pictures from internationally renowned wildlife photographers, Krupakar-Senani.
